Mar. 27—HENDERSON — It is time once again for the Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce to select a Small Business of the Year — and you can help.
Everyone is welcome to make submissions, although there are some criteria to keep in mind. Nominees must be members of the Chamber and must be located in Vance County, must employ a maximum of 50 people, must have been in business for at least three years while experiencing growth and stability and must not be a government agency, municipality, school or non-profit organization.
A business that provides “critical services or products, fills a void in the business community or has a unique approach to the delivery of goods and services” is listed as criteria as well. Stories of overcoming “diverse or extraordinary circumstances” in order to remain in business help in the running.
Businesses are welcome to nominate themselves. All applications are confidential.
Submissions are due by April 5, 2023. The winners will be honored with recognition and a plaque at the Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Luncheon on May 3.
Winners, not winners. Franklin, Granville, Pearson and Vance counties are all conducting the same contest for their respective areas and will all participate in the May 3 luncheon.
Nominations for businesses in Granville are due on April 17.
Country Snacks Manufacturing, Huff Consulting, Cook Shack Catering and REMAX Premier Realty won the top honors last year for Vance, Granville, Franklin and Pearson counties respectively.
“We just encourage anyone who wants to submit a nomination for their favorite Small Business of the Year to do so to the chamber,” said Chamber President Sandra Wilkerson. “We’re excited to see them come in.”
